Terms of Service
Last updated: July 18, 2026
By downloading or using Liberator: Food Scanner ("the App"), you agree to these terms. Libby is the in-app guide/mascot. If you don't agree, don't use the app.
1. What Libby Is
Liberator is a food ingredient analysis tool. It provides information about ingredients based on published scientific literature. It is not a medical device, does not provide medical advice, and is not a substitute for professional nutritional or medical guidance.
2. Not Medical Advice
Ingredient scores and flags in Libby are for informational purposes only. Do not use Libby to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any health condition. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional for medical decisions, especially regarding allergies, intolerances, or chronic conditions.
3. Accounts and Device Access
You may use core features through a device identifier without creating an account. Optional accounts may be available for syncing. You are responsible for protecting your device, account credentials, and Apple or Google account. You must provide accurate information and may not impersonate another person.
4. Free Use and Availability
Usage allowances, feature access, and provider availability can change as we maintain the service. The current free configuration allows up to five barcode scans per UTC day; photo scans have a one-per-day gate within the shared single-product scan counter. Grocery Haul is not currently counted as a single-product scan. The limit or availability shown in the app controls if it differs from this description.
Offline and cached results may be incomplete or out of date. Photo analysis, Grocery Haul, uncached lookups, and evidence updates generally require internet access. We may limit, suspend, or discontinue a feature when needed for security, provider availability, licensing, or service reliability.
5. Optional App Store Purchases
Some builds or regions may offer subscriptions or a one-time purchase through Apple StoreKit. The product, localized price, billing period, trial or introductory-offer eligibility, and renewal terms displayed by the App Store at the time of confirmation are authoritative. We do not promise a fixed price or trial duration in these terms.
- Apple processes payment and applies its media-services terms and refund process.
- An auto-renewing subscription continues until cancelled through your Apple account settings.
- If Apple shows a trial, Apple determines eligibility and when billing begins.
- A one-time or “lifetime” option, if offered, applies only to the supported life of the app and service and does not guarantee perpetual availability of third-party data or providers.
6. Photos and User Submissions
Only submit photos and text you have the right to provide. Do not include faces, addresses, receipts, medical records, prescriptions, or other personal or confidential material in food images.
To operate Libby, you grant Lucky Happy Fish LLC a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to process submitted content and make technical modifications needed to return your result. Ordinary scan images are processed transiently in the release configuration and are not automatically published or retained by Libby after the response. If you separately choose to contribute a product photo, the license also permits us to host and display that photo as shared catalog imagery and use it to improve product recognition. Derived product facts may improve the shared catalog. Contact support to request review of a contributed image; removal may not erase provider records or de-identified improvements already derived from it.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or abuse the API
- Use the app in any way that could harm other users or our infrastructure
- Share your account or device ID with others to circumvent scan limits
8. Data Sources and Third-Party Rights
Libby combines independently developed analysis with product and research information from multiple sources. Open Food Facts database material, individual database contents, and product images remain subject to their respective ODbL, DbCL, and CC BY-SA terms. USDA FoodData Central material is identified separately as public-domain/CC0 data. Other images, publications, brands, and third-party services remain subject to their owners' rights and terms. See Data Sources & Attribution.
Nothing in these terms relicenses one source under another source's license or gives you rights beyond those granted by the applicable source.
9. Accuracy and AI-Generated Analysis
Product databases, optical character recognition, and AI models can be incomplete or wrong. Formulations, labels, studies, and product images change. We do not warrant that a score, detected item, allergen flag, ingredient list, alternative, or explanation is complete, current, or error-free. Always read the physical label and verify important information with the manufacturer or a qualified professional.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lucky Happy Fish LLC is not liable for any damages arising from your use of Libby, including but not limited to health decisions made based on app data.
11. Termination and Changes
You may stop using Libby at any time. We may suspend access for abuse, security risk, legal requirements, or material breach of these terms. We may update these terms; the date above will change, and additional notice will be provided when required.
